When will my order ship?
Because we are shipping predominantly perishable items, we prefer to release the orders for shipment so they do not sit over the weekend in cargo areas. Therefore, orders are released for shipment Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday from our East coast Springfield, VA location to our exclusive shipping partners UPS, United Parcel Service and USPS, United States Postal Service..
When will my order arrive?
Please see the days in transit Map and the UPS shipping options table. You will select your shipping options at checkout. Based upon your shipping destination, and if perishable items are included in your order, you must plan on and select a shipping option for up to a maximum of two business days in transit leaving from our east coast Burke, VA location either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Watch for a shipping confirmation (UPS Quantum View email) with tracking number when the order is transferred to UPS. Holiday cutoffs will be posted on home page of website.
All free shipping orders and small orders are shipped with USPS Priority Mail. Packages will usually arrive within 2 - 3 days after they are shipped.
Reminder: DO NOT CHOOSE UPS GROUND shipping if your order contains perishable products and your shipping destination is outside of two days in transit.
Note: All orders are reviewed based upon product mix and days in transit, and if UPS ground is chosen by mistake for perishable products, or if Air is chosen where ground transit will arrive in the same time frame, we will correct the shipping method and charge or credit your credit card for the difference.
Where do you ship your products?
We have experience handling perishable shipments to destinations all over the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. At this time we do not accept orders through our website for shipments to Canada, Mexico or worldwide. Also, please note that we cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes or APO/FPO addresses with UPS. Only orders that are small in quantity are shipped with USPS which may be delivered to P.O. boxes.
I live in a very hot climate, should I refrigerate my chocolate shipment?
Chocolate is an amazing food that visibly reacts (so called chocolate bloom) to abrupt or extended change in temperature. Therefore, refrigerating finer chocolates is not recommended.Actually quite shelf stable, chocolate can retain its rich flavor character for a surprisingly long timeline. So if you are going to store it, preferably store it at a dark cool 60-65 degree Fahrenheit. The sensory pleasure of eating chocolate is always best at room temperature.
What if I have an emergency party I need items for?
We will do everything we can to accommodate you on rush orders. Help us help you by making sure you indicate in the note field at checkout that you have an urgent deadline and try to leave at least one shipping day in the timeline for contingencies such as inclement weather conditions, holiday rush delays, missed driver delivery, or incidents beyond everyone’s control.
What if I want to place an order, charge it to my credit card and ship it as a gift to another location?
The products are packed with the greatest of care. There is a special Thank You enclosed in every shipment. Our goal is to make opening a shipment from The Swiss Bakery a joyful event. If you want a personal gift message enclosed with your shipment to someone dear to your, please indicate briefly what you want to say in the comment field at checkout and we will take it from there.
